Job Requirement
Manage the effective production of quality gloves in the Dipping, Stripping and Layering process of the gloves manufacturing process
Job Responsibility
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Former Management
- Maintain a comprehensive and trackable inventory of former deployed to the production line to utilise former to its optimum lifespan.
- Manage change and replacement of formers (e.g. defective former, change of glove size) are performed at production line.
- Monitor movement of former between former store and production line to enable reconciliation of former stock.
Monthly Production Planning
- Obtain information from Planning Team and/or Factory Manager to be plan production activities around preventive maintenance activity, planned product change, former ratio changes and any activity that will cause the line to be down.
Daily Production Planning
- Review the production report to compare the production output (quantity) vs. quality (Defects Per Million [DPM]).
- Manage allocation / prioritisation of manpower for production (ground floor & top floor) for operators and supervisors.
- Coordinate production requirement with Compounding (e.g. quantity, type, time, line), Quality Assurance (QA) (e.g. buyoff required, timing), Laboratory (e.g. incoming and outgoing test) and Plant Engineering and Maintenance (PEM) activities that are planned for the day.
- Monitor daily production output, former ratio, machine uptime and line speed. Compare actual against expected (target) quantity.
- Control Process Control Parameters according to specification and continue to monitor trend from Control (SCADA) Room to take preventive action to avoid failure.
- To monitor order planning and ensure production output meeting delivery of the orders without delays.
Raw Material & Utilities
- Review and ensure there is sufficient raw material (Latex, Coagulant, Cleaning chemicals) to be utilised by production for the entire day.
- Plan for any line stop activity for raw material required and /or transfer raw material to other production line and/or storage.
- Devise a contingency plan and engage with Plant facilities for any interruption if there are any foreseeable utilities disruption (e.g. electricity, gas and water).
- To monitor daily utilities usage (gas, electricity and water) are within the control and target set.
- To perform daily latex ordering for compounding activities.
Glove Quality Management
- Liaise with Quality Assurance team to get timely production lot test results.
- Monitor daily Defects Per Million (DPM) and Average Quality Level (AQL) of glove production produce highest percentage of Grade A gloves.
- Review sample of the glove, troubleshoot and determine root cause of issue based on defects detected (Physical quality, Dimension, Visual and Barrier defects).
- Based on various real time production information, make timely decision to bypass or stop production line to minimise amount of online scrap.
- Determine the root cause of defects and take decisive actions to rectify the issue.
- To collect, analyse process related data and initiate improvement projects on cost reduction or quality related such as output, manpower, quality, scrap and downtime.
Sorting Activities
- Monitor the sorting output and defects (from stripping and layering) prior to sending the gloves for QA buyoff.
- Arrange for the gloves utilised by the QA team for Watertight Test (WTT) have been (tumble) dried, sorted (by size), layered (stacked) to be scrapped or sold as lower grade.
Preventive Maintenance & Modification
- Report and raise issue experienced to PEM immediately to arrange for timely repairs.
- Plan with PEM for any preventive maintenance which will be performed to
arrange for bypass, line start up and shutdown.
- Perform inspection of the lines that have undergone preventive maintenance to
ensure it is in good working order before putting it back into service.
- To arrange and ensure the preventive maintenance of dipping lines are carried out as required in order to up-keep the machine conditions and to prevent unnecessary downtime.
- To investigate and conduct root cause analysis and provide long-term and/or short-term solutions on any quality issues and other plant related issues arise.
Audits & Customer Visits
- Plan for customer and auditors visits the Plant in accordance with the scope to be reviewed or scope of audit.
- Prepare paperwork (e.g. evidence, report) for audit scope, updated, familiarised and verify that Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is updated and current.
- Ensure process is compliance with Quality, Safety and Health, Social Compliance and production actions does not compromise wastewater (environmental) standard.
Customer Complains
- Investigate and close out customer complains that have been received with QA department.
- To strive to improve product quality performance and achieve reduction in customer complaint.
Safety, Standards and Compliance
- Define, communicate and review the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for processes, equipment, installation and ensure it is kept current.
- Represent the department in internal / external audit meetings to ensure accurate reviews, strive for zero noncompliance and ensure any corrective actions are resolved within the agreed timeline.
- Ensure the condition in the department area consistently achieve and improve 5S standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Cultivate and enforce safe working practices to ensure safety of the workforce in the team, compliance to safety standards and drive toward zero loss time injury.
- Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are utilised for workforce that are working in production areas, to comply to safety requirements.
- Periodically inspect and ensure that the workplace is kept clean and equipment are upkept to the standards expected / defined.
Develop Human Capital
- Mentor team members to develop skills for comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing environment and mandatory requirements.
- Manage team performance against target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), goals, to deliver organisation goals.
- Monitor workforce compliance in accordance with prevailing policies and guidelines, such as work hours, overtime, working conditions, fair treatment, wellbeing, etc
Others
- Propose to management on any department improvement projects for continuous improvement.
- Execute the approved project accordingly.
- Any other task and/or assigned duties as required by the management.
