The TikTok Local Services Transactions Team is dedicated to connecting users with local merchants around the world. We build core transaction capabilities across local services such as food and beverage, travel and hospitality, enabling seamless and convenient experiences throughout the journey from order placement to service fulfillment. At the same time, we provide merchants with efficient and reliable order management and fulfillment capabilities, helping turn online consumer demand into real-world local service experiences.

Across different countries, markets, and business models, we build unified and scalable transaction capabilities to solve complex challenges in business modeling, large-scale system architecture, transaction security, and data consistency, supporting the continued growth of our global local services business.

We also actively explore the practical application of AI across software development, quality assurance, system reliability, and incident management, driving more efficient engineering practices and intelligent approaches to problem solving while continuously improving engineering productivity and service quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop core transaction systems for TikTok Local Services, covering order placement, order management, fulfillment, after-sales, and other key transaction scenarios, while continuously improving user transaction experiences and merchant operational efficiency.
  • Understand diverse markets and business models and abstract unified, scalable transaction models and service capabilities. Drive the platformization of transaction capabilities to improve the efficiency of onboarding new scenarios and accelerating business iteration.
  • Continuously optimize system architecture, reliability, and stability, including order state transitions, data consistency, idempotency, and exception handling and compensation mechanisms, ensuring transaction correctness and system reliability under high concurrency and complex failure scenarios.
  • Drive the application of AI across the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, code review, troubleshooting, and transaction anomaly analysis. Turn effective AI practices into reusable tools and engineering workflows to continuously improve development efficiency, delivery quality, and problem-solving effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and upstream/downstream engineering teams throughout requirements analysis, technical solution design, launch validation, and post-launch impact tracking, driving the resolution of complex business and technical problems.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, computer networks, and operating systems. Proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, Python, or C++, with strong coding practices and engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with common backend technologies such as MySQL, Redis, and message queues, with a solid understanding of their underlying principles, use cases, and common failure modes, and the ability to apply them appropriately in backend system design.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures, with strong capabilities in business abstraction and system design. Able to clearly define data models, service boundaries, and exception-handling flows, with a strong focus on data consistency and system reliability.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development. Able to clearly define problems, organize relevant business and code context, and leverage AI to assist with development, testing, or troubleshooting. Demonstrates strong independent judgment and validation skills, using code review, testing, and runtime data to verify AI-generated results and take ownership of delivery quality.
  • Strong business acumen, communication, collaboration, and self-learning capabilities. Proactive in identifying problems, analyzing root causes, and driving solutions, with strong attention to business boundaries and production quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing order, fulfillment, after-sales, or transaction platforms in e-commerce or local services.
  • Experience building high-concurrency and highly available systems, with hands-on experience in distributed consistency, reliability engineering, stability governance, or handling complex production incidents.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM applications or AI Agent engineering, including context management, tool calling, evaluation, and execution safety. Experience in engineering automation, intelligent troubleshooting, or transaction anomaly detection and governance is a plus.
