ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
- Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
- Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
- Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse.
- Daily routine:
· Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
· Prepares and tidies patients’ beds and linens as needed and organizes patients’ belongings as well as furniture.
· Disinfects the beds, furniture, and equipment after utilizing them.
· Keeps the ward, store, fridge, and its facilities clean and tidy.
· Assist the patient with Activities of Daily Living
· Answer phone calls and relay messages.
· Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
· Assists nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
· Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the ward to other areas upon discharge.
· Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results
· Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
· Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
- Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
· Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc.
· Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
· Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates the patients’ charges accordingly.
· Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
· Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely
· Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
- Attend meetings held by the service.
