Summary

This role is responsible for acting as a strategic partner to the senior management team covering Malaysia Banking Business and Operations, contributing to and supporting the development and implementation of CIMB Malaysian Operations’ strategies in line with the Group’s overall objectives to ensure sustainable profitability. This role leads and oversees the Malaysian Finance department’s operations, including Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Management Reporting, Investment Banking and Product Control, Business Finance Advisory, Budgeting, and Strategic Cost Management. It provides indirect oversight over Capital Management, Balance Sheet Management, Financial Systems and Projects, and Risk Control, and reports directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer

Job Description

Job Purpose:

Strategic role in the management of CIMB Investment Bank with primary responsibility for planning, implementing, leading and managing all financial-related activities. Supporting the GCFO and CEO, CIMB Investment Bank to achieve the Bank’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to CEO, CIMB Investment Bank and the Board of Directors of CIMB Investment Bank Berhad in relation to Investment Banking’s financial performance, targets and control.
  • Ensure CIMB Investment Bank delivers sustainable and satisfactory returns on shareholders’ capital.
  • Ensure strong, adequate and appropriate controls and governance are in place to meet the requirements of regulatory, statutory and internal process and procedures in relation to the finance function and financial reporting of the IB entity.
  • Develop strategic plans for CIMB Investment Bank by contributing financial information, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
  • Drive the financial performance of CIMB Investment Bank by evaluating trends, establishing critical financial measurements and providing sound advice to the SBUs.
  • Develop CIMB Investment Bank’s prospect by identifying industry and revenue opportunities, identifying areas for improvement and resolving strategic issue.
  • Responsible for CIMB Investment Bank’s internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Direct, oversee and enhance the quality of service for all aspects of the finance function in relation to CIMB Investment Bank which includes budgeting, management and statutory accounts, reporting to regulators and capital requirements

Qualifications/ Relevant Work Experiences

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Finance or in the relevant discipline
  • Chartered Accountant, CFA or equivalent professional qualification
  • At least 15 years' experience in Financial or in similar capacity with relevant experience at an established bank/financial institution.
  • At least 10 years of prior leadership position at an established bank/financial institution
  • Outstanding knowledge in various financial related areas
  • Strong knowledge of banking industry, product and services, including the rules and regulations both domestically and internationally.
  • Understand the Group’s business model and strategic objectives and translate it into plans for Group Finance’s organisation units.
