- Regulatory Interpretation and Compliance Updates
- Monitor, collect and interpret applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidelines and industry compliance requirements in Malaysia and relevant business jurisdictions.
- Track regulatory in areas including trade compliance, import and export controls, sanctions compliance, anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, anti-bribery and antiruption, financial compliance and data protection.
- Assess the impact of regulatory changes on the company’s business operations and provide timely compliance advice to stakeholders.
- Compliance Advisory and Risk Control
- Support the development, enhancement and implementation of internal compliance policies, procedures and operational guidelines.
- Provide compliance advice and risk assessment for new business initiatives, projects, products, transactions and cross-border arrangements.
- Identify potential compliance risks and propose practical, business-oriented solutions and mitigation measures.
- Assist the Compliance Director in implementing compliance improvement plans and risk control measures.
- Contract and Project Compliance Review
- Review contracts, commercial agreements, project documents and cooperation agreements from a compliance perspective.
- Identify potential compliance risks relating to trade compliance, financial compliance, sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, data protection and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide comments and proposed revisions to compliance-related clauses, including but not limited to sanctions compliance, export control, payment terms, source of funds, customer due diligence, anti-bribery undertakings, compliance representations and warranties, termination rights and liability provisions.
- Support compliance assessment of major projects, including review of transaction structures, counterparties and implementation arrangements.
- Compliance Review and Due Diligence
- Assist in conducting compliance due diligence on customers, suppliers, business partners, agents and other third parties.
- Support sanctions screening, background checks, transaction compliance review and identification of red flags.
- Conduct preliminary risk assessments on high-risk transactions or counterparties and provide recommendations to the Compliance Director.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a related discipline.
- Minimum5 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory matters.
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
