Skills and Competencies
- Strong data analysis skills, with some experience using statistical software
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in an Asian language in addition to English is desirable
- Ability to communicate analytical findings to non‐technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
- Motivated, responsible, and able to work independently without daily supervision
- Attention to detail and solid problem‐solving skills
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency
Education
Candidates should be currently enrolled in the penultimate or final year of a Bachelor's degree program, or the first year of a Master's degree program, in Economics or a related discipline.
Responsibilities
- Source, organize, and analyze macroeconomic and financial data to support ongoing research and forecasting activities in the Asia-Pacific region
- Build and maintain structured datasets by gathering data from public sources or querying internal databases for specific research needs
- Conduct analysis on custom datasets and produce concise written commentary that explains economic developments to a broad audience
- Support larger econometric projects using tools such as EViews, R, or Python, with opportunities to expand programming skills
- Assist in preparing content for publications, presentations, and topical analysis produced by the Economics team
About the Team
The Economics team, within the Banking unit of Moody’s Analytics, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, industry, and regional forecasts and research. The team supports businesses, governments, financial institutions, and investors worldwide through insights used in strategic planning, forecasting, risk management, sensitivity analysis, and investment research. By joining our team, you will be part of exciting work in macro analysis and finance.
Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June – August and positions are available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration.
