Field Application Scientist (ANZ/SA/ME; Based in Australia Brisbane or Singapore)
As a Field Application Scientist (ANZ/SA/ME; Based in Australia Brisbane or Singapore), you will mainly support ANZ, SA and ME region, to engage with customers (distributor, service provider, direct customers etc) daily, delivering trainings at customer sites, and providing experimental design, data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support across your region. You will serve as a key contact, collaborating with in-house Technical Support to address issues and maintain customer relationships. The primary objectives of this role are to ensure rapid adoption and maximum customer success with BGI STomics (Spatial Temporal Multi-omics) products.
Responsibilities:
Communicate:
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the company.
- Keep customers informed and trained on advancements in STOmics technology and software.
- Coordinate and conduct customer site trainings and demonstrations.
- Identify, document, and communicate customer issues, complaints, or concerns to management.
- Contribute to white papers and documentation to expand support content.
- Coordinate discussions of product offerings with potential and current customers.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations, both internally and externally, detailing key methodologies and results.
Connect:
- Collaborate with customers as they develop their research using STomics technologies.
- Foster long-term relationships through scientific discussions and collaboration.
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, managing expectations while exceeding their needs.
- Gather and deliver strategic customer feedback, communicating use cases beyond initial product scope to Marketing and Product Development teams.
Support:
- Conduct STomics experiment in Australia Brisbane demo lab to enhance the customer experience with the STomics workflow and demonstrate its performance.
- Troubleshoot issues related to users' technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software, and instruments.
- Interpret customer needs and identify the proper issue escalation pathway within BGI STomics.
- Support field sales team at trade shows, seminars, and technical symposiums, including presentations and networking.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS/MS with approx.2-4 years of life science industry experience, or Ph.D. in the field of Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or chemistry
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with histology, NGS workflows, and data analysis software.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Must be self-motivated, a quick learner, dedicated to achieving excellence, and love to take on new challenges.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and systematic troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding presentation and training skills.
- Ability to maintain records for customer sites and provide high-level feedback to management.
- English is the working language, and Mandarin proficiency is a plus
- Comfortable traveling across Australia, New Zealand, South Asia, the Middle East, and other APAC regions as needed. The main focus of the work is in the ANZ region, requiring about 50% of the time, with the rest covering the SA and ME regions, including 2-3 trips per region annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Field Application Scientist or in customer-facing roles in the life science industry.
- Experience in Spatial Genomics or single-cell sequencing.
- Proficiency with common molecular biology bench techniques and histological practices such as ISH, IHC/IHF.
- Solid computational skills and a deep understanding of omics data and its analysis is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of genomics or biochemistry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team toward corporate goals.
