About Multiplier
Multiplier Holdings is a VC-backed startup that acquires and scales professional services firms with AI and automation. We operate in regulated, high-stakes verticals like tax and corporate accounting, where complex workflows and talent shortages make automation especially valuable.
Unlike traditional software vendors, we combine technology and service delivery under one roof, building in-house AI and workflow components configured per firm to boost efficiency and improve the experience for clients and staff. Learn more at multiplierholdings.com.
About Our Product Pods
Multiplier organizes engineering into small, vertically-owned "pods", cross-functional teams embedded in a specific business domain (e.g. tax, corporate accounting, or firm operations) that own a product area end-to-end, from the professionals who use it to the infrastructure underneath it.
Pods move fast because they're not waiting on a central roadmap: they talk directly to the firms and staff they serve, decide what's worth building, and ship it.
The Role
We are looking for a Founding Product Engineer to own problems end-to-end: talk directly to the people experiencing them, decide what's worth building, and then build it.
This is a hybrid product and engineering role spanning discovery, roadmap ownership, systems design, and full-stack execution. You will run user conversations, scope and prioritize what gets built, write the technical design, and ship the first working version yourself, often within the same week. You'll frequently be the first person to touch a brand-new problem area, and you'll carry a piece of the roadmap with your name on it.
What You'll Own
You'll be dropped into a high-value problem area with no existing spec, and take it from discovery to production:
Discovery and Roadmap Ownership
- Run discovery conversations directly with the operators, accountants, and firms who'll use what you build.
- Turn what you hear into a scoped set of objectives and a prioritized roadmap, including real build/no-build and sequencing calls.
- Demo early prototypes back to users and adjust based on their feedback.
Agentic AI Workflows
- Design and ship systems that use LLM agents, including long-running, multi-agent setups to automate complex, judgment-heavy work.
- Build extraction and reconciliation pipelines that turn messy, unstructured documents into clean, structured, reviewable data.
- Wire in human-in-the-loop review and multi-pass verification for outputs where correctness is non-negotiable.
Full-Stack Product Ownership
- Own the product surfaces professionals use end-to-end: backend APIs and data models, and the React-based frontend on top.
- Build configurable templates, dynamic questionnaires, conditional logic, and document workflows.
- Own the data migrations, seeders, and infrastructure work needed to get changes safely into production.
Technical and Product Communication
- Write technical design docs that double as product docs: the architecture, the "why," the tradeoffs considered, and what's explicitly out of scope.
- Use those docs to align other pods, design, and domain experts around a path forward.
- Partner with the Pod Lead to represent your area in the broader roadmap.
Who You Are
- 8+ years building software, ideally including founding or early-startup experience.
- You think like a founder. Given a fuzzy problem and no roadmap, your instinct is to go figure out what's actually going on, place a bet, and build, not to wait for someone to hand you a spec or a green light.
- A track record of owning outcomes end-to-end. You've taken a ill-defined problem from discovery through shipped software, making real prioritization calls along the way, and have a portfolio of great products you've helped build to show for it.
- Resourceful by default. If the "right" tool, process, or person isn't available, you find another way rather than stall. You'd rather ship something scrappy today than wait for the perfect setup.
- Strong across the stack. You move comfortably between backend systems, APIs, data models, frontend UI, and production debugging.
- Hands-on with applied AI. You've built with LLMs and agents in production — designing around orchestration, tool use, and human-in-the-loop review, not just calling an API.
- Comfortable with users, not just code. You've worked directly with non-technical domain experts or customers to translate real-world workflows into software.
- A strong technical communicator. You write crisp design docs, explain tradeoffs plainly, and align engineering and domain experts around a path forward.
What This Role Is Not
- A ticket-execution role. You'll help define what gets built, not just implement someone else's spec.
- A research-only AI role. You'll experiment with models, retrieval, and agents, but the job is shipping reliable systems into real workflows.
- An internal platform or infrastructure-only role. This work is measured by direct customer value.
Why Join Us
You'll run a mini-startup inside a larger company, at the intersection of financial data and applied AI, where correctness is non-negotiable. The work is early enough that you'll shape both the product direction and the technical foundation underneath it, and real enough that you'll see firsthand whether staff trust what you build. If you want outsized ownership over what gets built and to see it through from a rough idea to something professionals rely on, this is it.
