Are you a seasoned credit leader with deep expertise in Financial Institutions Group (FIG) credit? Join Maybank Singapore as Head, FIG Credit and play a pivotal role in shaping the Bank's FIG credit strategy across ASEAN.
Leading a high-performing team, you will drive credit decisions and risk management for some of the region's most sophisticated transactions spanning Financial Institutions, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Financial Sponsors, Sovereigns, structured financings and emerging New Economy sectors, while partnering closely with senior management, regional stakeholders and key clients to support sustainable business growth.
Responsibilities:-
- Lead the FIG Credit team in the assessment, structuring and approval of complex credit transactions across Financial Institutions, Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs), Financial Sponsors, Sovereigns and Institutional Real Estate sectors
- Drive sound credit underwriting standards, portfolio quality management and proactive identification of emerging risks across the FIG portfolio
- Provide credit leadership and transaction structuring expertise for syndicated loan, leveraged finance, acquisition finance, sponsor-backed transactions, structured lending and institutional real estate financings
- Oversee portfolio concentration, sector, country and sponsor exposures, including stress testing, early warning identification and portfolio optimisation initiatives
- Partner Relationship Managers, Product Teams, Legal, Compliance and Risk stakeholders to deliver practical and balanced client solutions while maintaining prudent risk discipline
- Present, defend and articulate credit recommendations at Credit Committees, Management Committees and senior stakeholder forums
- Drive a strong risk culture through ongoing coaching, talent development and succession planning across the FIG Credit team
- Develop and implement best practices in credit analysis, portfolio management and transaction execution to enhance efficiency and consistency across the franchise
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business and risk stakeholders on complex cross-border transactions and market developments.
Requirements:-
✔A good degree with 12-15 years' relevant credit and risk management experience with strong exposure to Financial Institutions, Financial Sponsors, Sovereign and Institutional Real Estate transactions.
✔Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following sectors:
- Banks and Financial Institutions
- Non-Bank Financial Institutions (asset managers, insurers, finance companies, broker/dealers and NBFI fintechs)
- Financial Sponsors / Private Equity / Leveraged Finance
- Sovereign, Supranational and Policy Institutions
- Digital Infrastructure and Data Centre financing
- Institutional Real Estate and Alternative Assets
✔Strong experience in:
- Credit underwriting and risk assessment
- Financial modelling and cashflow analysis
- Leveraged finance and structured transactions
- Sponsor-backed and acquisition financing
- Portfolio risk management and stress testing
- Credit Committee papers and presentations
- Stakeholder management across Business, Risk, Legal and Compliance
✔Proven track record in leading and developing high-performing credit teams, fostering strong risk discipline and building future credit leaders
✔Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance business growth with prudent risk management while delivering practical, solution-oriented outcomes
✔Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and represent recommendations confidently at management and credit forums.
✔Good understanding of sustainability trends, ESG considerations and emerging New Economy sectors, and their implications for credit underwriting and portfolio management
✔Experience covering ASEAN and cross-border transactions
✔Experience in Financial Sponsors (PE/LBO), NBFI and structured financing transactions will be highly preferred
✔Professional qualifications such as CFA, CA, FRM or equivalent will be an advantage.
