Role Overview
The Head of Renewables is responsible for leading the development, execution, and growth of the company’s renewable energy strategy. This role drives investment decisions, project development, and operational performance across renewable assets (e.g., solar, wind, storage, co-invest opportunities, funds, public equities), aligning with the organization’s broader sustainability and financial objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the company’s renewable energy strategy aligned with corporate goals
- Identify growth opportunities across markets, technologies, and partnerships
- Develop a model for capital allocation across markets and technologies. This covers setting up a development pipeline, operational assets, allocation towards renewable funds, co-invest opportunities and renewable equities
- Advise executive leadership on market trends, risks, and investment opportunities
- Lead origination, evaluation, and execution of renewable energy investments and acquisitions
- Oversee financial modelling, risk assessment, and capital decisions
- Be comfortable to structure and negotiate PPAs, JV agreements, and project financing
- Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle (development, permitting, construction, commissioning)
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to performance standards
- Oversee relationships with developers, contractors, and regulatory bodies
- Drive operational efficiency and asset performance across the renewable portfolio
- Implement best practices in asset management, maintenance, and optimization
- Monitor KPIs and ensure all renewable energy activities comply with relevant legislation, industry standards and ESG requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, regulators, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Represent the company in industry forums and strategic discussions
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 10–15+ years’ experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy markets
- Proven track record in developing, executing & exiting renewable energy projects or investments
- Strong technical background in project development, with proven ability to assess engineering and operational risk
- Capable to lead due diligence and review technical studies for projects and acquisitions
- Strong financial acumen and experience with commercial structuring
- Deep understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and ESG considerations
