About the role

The IETS Technician oversees the daily operation and maintenance of the IETS. Ensure wastewater is treated effectively and discharge compliance with environmental regulation. The role also involves supervising technicians, troubleshooting equipment, maintaining records and supporting continues improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems Operation (CePIETSO) – Biological Process (BP) or Physical Chemical Process (PCP), as required by DOE Malaysia.
• Operate and monitor the industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS)
• Ensure treated effluent complies with DOE final discharge standards (Standard B).
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, blowers, dosing system and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Supervise and monitor outsourced technicians to ensure compliance with company and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors to implement plant and site safety improvements.
• Maintain accurate performance monitoring, operation logs and maintenance activities.
• Enhanced treatment efficiency and reduce operating costs by recommend process improvements.
• Participate in emergency responses activities related to wastewater treatment systems.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policies.
• Support the utilities section with the Chillers, Air Compressors, Boilers, UV Light, Hot and Ambient Water supply and operations.

Qualifications and skills

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Utilities Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (CePIETSO) Competent Person BP or PCP certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS), wastewater treatment operations, utilities, or a related manufacturing environment.

Experience in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, blowers, dosing systems, and monitoring instruments.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (IETS) and wastewater treatment processes.
• Understanding of DOE environmental regulations and Standard B discharge requirements.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to environmental operations and utilities management.
• Proficient in maintaining operational records, logs, and compliance documentation.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and data recording systems.
