Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular and consistent home visits to provide parents and caregivers with support, guidance, and practical strategies to strengthen their capacity in promoting their child's development.
  • Build rapport and foster positive relationships with parents and caregivers to facilitate learning and engagement in areas such as parent-child interaction, developmentally informed parenting, and family well-being.
  • Assess and support parents in applying and integrating child development knowledge and skills into their daily caregiving practices.
  • Conduct developmental screenings and ongoing assessments of child development, maternal well-being, and overall family functioning.
  • Provide families with information, education, and guidance on child development, developmental needs, healthcare, dental care, mental health, and available support services, with consultation and support from a multidisciplinary team comprising paediatricians, nurses, allied health professionals, early childhood specialists, and social work consultants.
  • Collaborate with community and social service agencies (e.g. Family Service Centres, Family Coaches, healthcare and early intervention providers) to coordinate support for children and families, including participating in case conferences and multidisciplinary discussions.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Development, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent
  • Passionate and committed to work with caregivers and their children
  • Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently, conduct home visits, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Good assessment, documentation, and casework skills
  • Willing to travel to home visits and able to work on some evenings
  • 1-3 years of experience working with children and families, particularly in community, social service, healthcare, or early childhood settings and familiar with the needs of low-income families
  • Ability to communicate in Malay would be an advantage to support interactions with Malay-speaking clients
