MERCHANDISING MANAGER

Job Description:

Category Management:

• Take ownership of the shelves.

Identify missing “hero” products and ensure product mix is always ahead of competitors, review slow moving SKU and activate clearance to reduce damage to business, aggressive to approach newest or NPD which is suitable to business format, maintain appropriate no. of SKU/listing to ensure fulfil customer demand while keep inventory healthy.

Pricing and Benchmarking:

• Conduct regular market price

checks. Set the RRP (Retail Price) for our items to ensure we stay competitive while protecting our margins.

• Conduct regular check on

products, promotion and display strategies, and analyse retail trends and customer behaviours.

Supplier Negotiation and

Performance:

• Deal directly with

supplier/distributors/vendors to get better COGS, trading terms, promotional support, and any operational issues which harmful to our business.

• Manage the Product Master List

with high discipline – ensuring SKU details, barcodes, and costs are accurate.

• Ensure proper documentation,

supplier agreements, rebate tracking, and commercial records are properly maintained.

Analytic and Reporting:

• Weekly & Monthly review on

sales & counter measure including store best practice.

• Provide sales counter measure

as and when necessary.

• Monitor actual performance vs

budget and implement correctness action plans when necessary.

Stock Availability:

• Work closely with Operations to

ensure zero stock-outs on fast moving categories.

• Work closely with Supply Chain

team to ensure sufficient stocks stored in Distribution Centre and right amount of quantity to deliver to each outlet.

• Monitor and Track

supplier/vendor PO and direct stores fulfilment with purchase sell-through to avoid lost sales opportunity and disappointment from customers.

Promotion:

• Planning and execution on

monthly, weekly and promotional campaign with government, including checking execution in-stores.

Operation Support:

• Day to Day operation issue

support to smoothen the operation task.

New stores and

revamp/refurbishment support:

• Assortment, categories,

equipment, promotion, display planning.

Stores Visitation

• Store visit to store and

checking on the selling floor and backroom condition.

• To ensure proper merchandising

execution.

• To understand operational

challenges and customer demand.

Collaborate with Planogram and

Space Planning Team:

• To optimise product mix based

on sales performance and customer demand.

• Develop and maintain planogram

for different store formats and product categories.

• Allocate shelf space

effectively to maximise sales per square foot.

• Review slow-moving items and

recommend actions such as promotions or delisting.

Support on special projects to

improve department sales and activation.

Manage categories:

• Beverage
• Confectionary (Snack &

Candy)

• Dairy: Perishable, Fruits &

Vegetables, Meat & Poultry, Seafood, Frozen Food, Fresh Milk, Chill foods, Ice Cream or temperature sensitive products/handling.

• Bakery

Ensure fresh categories

maintain high standard and quality, freshness, cleanliness, and food safety compliance.

Job Requirements:

• Retail buying experience with

relevant product category.

• Strong negotiation skills and

experience of negotiating income and promotional support from Suppliers.

• Understanding of Profit and

Loss management.

• Engaging and influential

communication.

• Able to work in a fast-paced

and results-driven retail environment.

• Independent, proactive, and

commercially focused, and willing to go the extra mile for company growth.

• Strong analytical and

leadership skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

and retail reporting analysis.

• Possess own transportation and

be willing to travel when required.

• Proven problem-solving and

decision-making capabilities.

• Collaborative team player with

excellent interpersonal skills.
