Procurement Local Assistant Manager/Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to support retail/FMCG business requirements, ensuring competitive pricing, product availability, quality, and timely supply.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, quotation comparison, supplier evaluation, negotiation, purchase orders, contract terms, and delivery follow-up.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on pricing, product quality, supply capacity, lead time, reliability, and service performance.
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, rebates, commercial terms, contracts, and other purchasing conditions to achieve cost savings and favourable business outcomes.
  • Monitor market pricing, product trends, supplier movements, and cost changes to support effective purchasing decisions.
  • Manage supplier performance and build strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply and minimise disruptions to retail operations.
  • Review purchasing requirements and work closely with relevant teams to ensure appropriate order quantities, specifications, stock availability, and purchasing timelines.
  • Monitor purchase orders, delivery schedules, and outstanding orders to ensure products are delivered according to agreed timelines.
  • Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities, supplier consolidation, process improvements, and procurement efficiencies without compromising product quality or availability.
  • Analyse procurement spending, supplier performance, and purchasing trends to support management decision-making and procurement planning.
  • Ensure procurement activities, supplier documentation, contracts, and purchasing records are properly maintained and compliant with company policies.
  • Supervise and guide Procurement Executives/Officers, including work allocation, negotiation support, supplier management, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Inventory, Operations, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to support business and retail requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement/purchasing experience, preferably within retail, FMCG, supermarket, hypermarket, convenience store, or other high-volume consumer businesses.
  • Candidates with experience in high-volume purchasing and managing multiple suppliers/SKUs will be highly preferred.
  • Strong experience in supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Proven ability to negotiate pricing, payment terms, commercial terms, contracts, and other purchasing conditions.
  • Good understanding of cost management, market pricing, lead times, product availability, and supply continuity within a fast-moving business environment.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills with the ability to identify cost-saving and purchasing optimisation opportunities.
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Inventory, Operations, Finance, and other relevant departments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment and manage multiple procurement priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant procurement/ERP systems.
  • Prior experience in leading or supervising Procurement/Purchasing Executives or Officers is preferred.
