RESPONSIBILITIES
CNA938 is looking for a Producer who is able to work in various capacities across the station; on the news desk or supporting news talk programming. You will be employed on a 5-day a week roster that might include early starts, late finishes and weekends. On a daily basis, you could be involved in preparing news bulletins and/or working with on air talent putting programmes to air. Duties change depending on operational need.
You will be responsible for producing broad-ranging compelling, accessible, topical audio and video programming for radio, podcasts and social media. News and current affairs are at the top of the list, but you will also have a keen interest in business, people, lifestyle, technology and entertainment.
The successful candidate will have:-
- An insatiable appetite for news and current affairs.
- A track record of reporting news and current affairs in a fast-paced environment, exercise the highest standards of accuracy, objectivity and timeliness.
- A desire to work with a small team supporting all aspects of production.
- Ideas on how to improve what we do and be enthusiastic in contributing to all aspects of station operations.
- An ability to work unsupervised and to adhere to the editorial guidelines set by regulators.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce innovative and creative audio and video programming for radio, podcast and digital platforms which will seize the audience’s attention while meeting the highest editorial standards
- Use state-of-the-art audio and video technology to create compelling content in a multi-platform environment
- Support programme production and delivery by researching stories and archive materials; and where necessary, by conducting interviews and filing live reports for news bulletins and other programmes
- Edit and write radio scripts, source audio and video content and arrange interviews where necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a Degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Political Science or the Arts and Social Sciences are preferred but other tertiary qualifications will also be considered
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
- You should be a team player with an ability to thrive under tight deadlines
- Strong interest in a wide range of local and international news, current affairs and other topical subjects
- Creative, analytical, resourceful
- An enthusiasm to embrace technology and to use it creatively in content production
- Excellent relationship management, presentation, communications and interpersonal skills
- Preferably at least 2 years of journalism experience. Experience in a broadcast or digital environment will be an advantage
