Join our team! Singapore Repertory Theatre is seeking applications for Residents in Technical Theatre for its Residency Programme. The Resident shall take on the role of Junior Technician in SRT’s productions and at KC Arts Centre.

Under the guidance of SRT’s technical team, the Resident Junior Technician will be part of the team in providing the following services:

  • providing audio, lighting, staging and other technical support and assistance as required
  • working on the bump-in and bump-out of SRT’s productions
  • working closely with visiting companies at KC Arts Centre ensuring that their technical needs in the

Venue are met.

  • being part of the show crew in the SRT’s productions.
  • carrying out due diligence checks and assist in ensuring that all Health & Safety guidelines are clearly

communicated and followed.

  • assisting with the maintenance of all technical equipment associated with KC Arts Centre.

Requirements:

  • Degree, Diploma, or minimum Higher Nitec in technical theatre or other related fields of study.
  • Basic technical knowledge in lighting, sound, stage, video, fly systems and rigging.
  • Computer literacy including Sharepoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations and good practices.
  • Ability to work at height.
  • Physically able to move technical equipment and scenic items safely and sensibly.
  • Willingness to work the required hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • An adaptable and flexible mindset, with the ability to respond to immediate and changing demands.

About SRT and its Residency Programme: SRT celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023 and is now one of the leading English language theatre producers and presenters in Asia producing musicals, critically acclaimed plays and innovative educational programmes. SRT’s Residency Programme offers an immersive hands -on experience for young theatre professionals looking to further their careers in Singapore’s theatre industry. The programme has existed for 10 years and 95% of the graduates are still working in the industry. Residents work closely alongside local and international colleagues on a wide range of productions and programmes developing their skills and understanding of their chosen specialities. The residents participate in the day-to-day workings to gain respect for and skills working professionally in the industry as part of a team. As and when appropriate, a formal training element by external vendors is offered to the residents to support the hands-on training at SRT. The residency allows the resident to set goals, review their progress and develop their skills in direct relation to the industry. Training in this format offers many benefits to career development, offering residents diverse and high -quality work experiences that will support future employment opportunities. Each resident will be expected to make a full-time commitment for 24-months.
