Senior Executive, AI Engineer

About the role

Support the design, development, testing, and implementation of practical AI solutions that improve business productivity, decision-making, client experience, and operational efficiency across Sun Life Malaysia. This role works closely with the Manager, AI Engineer, business stakeholders, business analysts, and data teams to turn priority business use cases into working AI solutions. The role focuses on hands-on development, testing, documentation, and solution support to help accelerate the company's AI transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and support AI solutions for business use cases by building, testing, and enhancing AI applications, workflows, and prototypes to address business needs across distribution, operations, client, and strategy
• Translate requirements into technical development tasks by working with the Manager, AI Engineer and business stakeholders to understand business problems, clarify requirements, and convert them into development tasks, workflows, prompts, and technical solution components
• Perform testing, tuning, and validation of AI outputs by conducting testing and refinement of AI models, prompts, workflows, and outputs to improve accuracy, consistency, and usability
• Support deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement by assisting in deploying AI solutions, monitoring performance and user feedback, and supporting ongoing enhancements
• Prepare technical documentation and reusable components by documenting solution logic, technical setup, test cases, user guidance, and development notes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related field
• 2–4 years of relevant working experience in analytics, software engineering, automation, application development, or related fields
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of AI solution development, including large language model applications, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools
• Hands-on skills in Python, SQL, APIs, and basic system integration
• Familiarity with prompt design, testing, debugging, and model output validation
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Good communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders
• Good documentation discipline and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn quickly and work in a fast-evolving AI environment
• Exposure to financial services or insurance is an added advantage
