Role Overview
The Manager / Senior Manager, Interior Design Management will be responsible for managing the interior design development and delivery of Asset Enhancement (A&A) projects across the integrated resort.
Working as part of the Projects team, the role will work closely with Project Managers, internal stakeholders, design consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure that the interior design intent is successfully developed and delivered in accordance with project objectives, operational requirements, timeline and budget.
The role requires a strong interior design background combined with practical project delivery experience, consultant management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a live operational environment.
Job Responsibilities
Interior Design Management
- Manage the interior design process for assigned A&A, refurbishment and enhancement projects from project brief through design development, tender, construction and completion.
- Develop and coordinate interior design briefs, design timeline, project requirements and scopes of services in consultation with Project Managers, operators and internal stakeholders.
- Manage appointed design consultants (interiors, lighting, artwork, signage and wayfinding and other related design fields) and monitor their performance, deliverables and design timeline
- Review concept, schematic and design development submissions to ensure alignment with the approved brief, design direction and operational requirements.
- Review interior drawings, details, material selections, specifications, FF&E, signage and other design-related submissions.
- Review shop drawings, material samples, mock-ups and prototypes to ensure consistency with the approved design intent.
- Coordinate interior design requirements with architectural, MEP, lighting, kitchen, AV/IT, signage and other relevant disciplines.
- Identify design coordination issues and work with the Project Manager, consultants and relevant parties to facilitate timely resolution.
- Monitor design changes and highlight potential implications to the Project Manager for assessment of cost, timeline and construction impact.
- Participate in value engineering exercises while safeguarding the key design intent and guest experience.
- Conduct site inspections and design reviews during construction to monitor workmanship, finishes and compliance with approved design intent.
- Support defects reviews, final inspections and project handover from an interior design perspective.
Project Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with the assigned Project Manager as part of an integrated project team, providing interior design management support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with business units and other internal stakeholders to establish and consolidate design requirements.
- Facilitate design workshops, presentations and coordination meetings with consultants and stakeholders.
- Provide clear design recommendations and escalate key design issues or decisions where required.
- Manage multiple stakeholders while maintaining consistency with the approved design direction and project brief.
Design Consultant Administration & Documentation
- Prepare design consultant scopes of services, briefs, and supporting documentation for consultant appointments.
- Coordinate consultant appointments, fee proposals, variations, and additional services with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Review consultant proposals, submissions, and deliverables to ensure compliance with agreed design scope, quality standards, and project programmes.
- Monitor consultant progress, verify deliverables, and support payment certification and related administrative processes.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design submissions, approvals, comments, meeting records, key decisions, and management reporting.
Job Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Interior Design or a related design discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant interior design and/or design management experience, preferably in hospitality projects; with appropriate experience for Senior Manager consideration.
- Proven experience managing interior design consultants and projects through concept, design development, tender, and construction stages.
- Strong knowledge of interior detailing, materials, finishes, FF&E, construction, and multidisciplinary coordination involving architectural, MEP, and specialist systems.
- Ability to critically review design drawings and technical submissions, provide clear direction, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong stakeholder, consultant, and project coordination skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experienced in consultant administration, including RFP preparation, contract documentation, progress assessments, and payment processes is advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and design software such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, or equivalent.
- Experience in refurbishment/A&A projects within live operational environments and/or client-side or developer organizations is advantageous.
