BNY Mellon

  • Singapore
  • Full-time

Job Description

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, AI Governance & Controls to join our AI Governance & Controls team. This role is located in Singapore.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead BNY’s regulatory engagement on AI and data governance across APAC—building and maintaining relationships with regulators including MAS, HKMA, and other regional authorities, and representing BNY’s position on emerging AI and data regulation.
  • Represent BNY in industry consortiums, working groups, and standard-setting bodies focused on AI governance, responsible AI, and data governance across the APAC region, shaping industry-wide frameworks and bringing external perspectives back into BNY’s practices.
  • Navigate the evolving APAC regulatory landscape for AI and data, leading on the translation of regulatory developments into actionable guidance and controls for technology teams.
  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert on AI governance, advising product owners, engineering leads, and senior stakeholders on risks, safeguards, and regulatory implications specific to APAC markets.
  • Work directly with product and engineering teams across APAC to embed BNY’s AI Governance framework into day-to-day development and delivery workflows within the First Line of Defense.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional collaborators across APAC, including risk, compliance, legal, data management, and technology, to drive aligned and consistent governance practices.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of governance controls by monitoring regional and global industry developments, regulatory changes, and consortium outputs, and embedding leading practices into BNY’s frameworks.
  • Provide transparent progress reporting to APAC senior leadership on governance adoption, control effectiveness, regulatory engagement outcomes, and regional risk posture.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • A proven track record of delivering governance, controls, or regulatory-focused initiatives within banking, financial services, or technology—ideally with direct experience in regulatory engagement and working alongside product and engineering organizations.
  • Experience engaging with financial regulators and participating in industry consortiums, working groups, or standard-setting bodies on AI, data governance, or related technology policy topics.
  • Demonstrated experience of work on AI and/or data governance frameworks, including practical application of controls within software development and data management lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with APAC regulatory environments for AI and data, such as MAS FEAT, HKMA principles, or regional data protection regimes (e.g., PDPA, PIPL).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree or certifications in AI, data governance, risk management, or compliance-related fields preferred.
  • Strong technical literacy—comfortable engaging with engineering teams on model risk, data lineage, automated controls, and governance tooling.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities—able to represent BNY credibly with regulators, industry peers, and senior leadership, with a results-oriented and execution-focused approach.
