Key Responsibilities

Process Safety Management

  • Implement and maintain the organisation's Process Safety Management (PSM) framework and programmes.
  • Identify, assess and control process safety hazards associated with plant operations, processes, equipment and hazardous materials.
  • Lead or facilitate process hazard assessments (PHA), HAZOP, HAZID, What-If, Bow-Tie and other process safety studies.
  • Monitor process safety performance, identify gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support the development and review of safe operating procedures, Permit-to-Work (PTW), isolation requirements and emergency response arrangements.
  • Promote process safety awareness through training, competency development, toolbox briefings and employee engagement.

Process Safety Assurance

  • Manage and review Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure process safety risks are assessed and controlled before changes are implemented.
  • Support Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new, modified or recommissioned equipment and processes.
  • Develop and maintain process safety critical element requirements, inspection programmes and assurance activities.
  • Conduct process safety audits, inspections and compliance reviews, and track closure of identified actions.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations, including identification of process safety root causes and lessons learned.

Occupational Safety

  • Support the implementation and continual improvement of occupational safety programmes across operations.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety reviews to identify and control occupational hazards, including work at height, confined spaces, lifting operations, machinery, electrical work, hazardous substances and vehicle movements.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations involving occupational safety and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance and contractors to promote safe work practices and compliance with company safety procedures, Permit-to-Work requirements and applicable WSH legislation.
  • Support safety training, toolbox briefings and awareness programmes to strengthen the organisation's safety culture and prevent workplace injuries.

Management Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve process safety procedures, standards, risk assessments and related management system requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external process safety audits, assessments and reviews, and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Maintain process safety documentation, records, process safety information and performance indicators.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant experience in process safety, chemical processing, waste-to-energy, manufacturing, utilities or other process industries is an advantage.
  • Professional certification or formal training in process safety, HAZOP/HAZID, LOPA, Bow-Tie or equivalent is an advantage.
