About the role

Join our growing Marine Underwriting team. We are seeking an experienced and driven Underwriter to support the management and growth of the Marine, Aviation & Transit portfolio while delivering profitable underwriting results and maintaining strong broker, client, and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow the Marine, Aviation & Transit portfolio to achieve profitable business results.
• Underwrite new and renewal business within delegated authority and company guidelines.
• Assess, analyse and price risks while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
• Monitor portfolio performance and support the achievement of business growth targets.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers and business partners.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver effective underwriting solutions and service excellence.
• Refer risks exceeding underwriting authority to treaty reinsurers and obtain necessary approvals.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
• Support the review and enhancement of underwriting procedures, rules and best practices.
• Assist in audit, reporting and other initiatives assigned by the Section Head

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Marine, Aviation & Transit classes of insurance.
• Strong technical underwriting expertise supported by sound commercial judgment.
• Good understanding of policy wordings, pricing methodologies, and risk assessment principles.
• Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Professional insurance qualifications such as ANZIIF, ACII, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
