RESPONSIBILITIES

CNA Digital is seeking to hire a visual journalist to be based in Karachi to work with its correspondents based in Pakistan including the city.

The successful candidate will be responsible for photography and videography when the correspondents are in the field.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with correspondents during assignments to produce photos and/or videos that convey the story
• Support correspondents in filming pieces to camera, including setup, lighting, and audio
• Edit images and produce clear, engaging videos for digital and social media platforms. This will be done in collaboration with a visuals editorial team based in Singapore
• Understand social media trends and create compelling visual content optimised for different platforms
• Undertake occasional independent reporting as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least five years of experience in visual journalism
• Proven ability to operate professional cameras for both photography and videography
• Experience using mobile devices for filming and publishing
• Strong video editing skills and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
• Ability to operate a drone is an advantage
• Familiarity with business and tech issues as well as a strong contact network in these sectors a plus
• Proficient in English and local languages such as Urdu

Portfolio Submission

Applicants must provide a link to an online portfolio demonstrating their visual journalism capabilities. This should include:

• Videos filmed and edited by the candidate
• Short-form social media videos filmed and edited by the candidate
• A selection of photographs shot by the candidate
