WILDLIFE KEEPER

- Record and observe the animal collection behavior for signs
of illness, injury and abnormal behavior and reports as required. Provide technical advice to management and staff.
- Prepares food for assigned animals; assists in the
development of animal diets.
- Cleans and disinfect assigned animals and exhibit areas.
- Follows treatment plans and preventive health measures as
prescribed by Zoo Veterinarian or Zoo Curators.
- Identifies and communicates safety concerns to management in
a timely manner.
- Support special animal care activities such as physical
examinations, minor exhibit repairs and modifications, and major exhibit maintenance projects.
- Assist with the physical transfer, shipment, or receipt of
animals.
- Participate in the capture and restraint of dangerous
animals as directed by the management.
- Plan, prepare, and provide regular activities for the enrichment
of the animals.
- Execute the animal presentation programs (e.g. animal
feeding programs) accordingly to expected standards.
- Maintains tools and equipment in good repair and working
order.
- Maintains food supplies and supplies inventory in assigned
areas.
- Provides technical assistance to internal or external
research conducting authorized zoo and animal studies.
Requirements
- Minimal SPM/O-Levels/Or other equivalent qualifications.
- Competence in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Competence in other vernacular languages would be an added advantage.
- Experience in zoo field, nature-related exhibition, animal husbandry and exhibit design.
- Able to work on weekends and public holidays.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job. E.g.: Required to lift 20kg loads.
- Confident, outgoing personality and a team player.
