About the Role

Christopher & Lee Ong (CLO), a member firm of Rajah & Tann Asia — one of the largest law firm networks in Southeast Asia — is seeking two Junior to Mid-Level Associates to join our award-winning Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Personal Data Protection Practice. Consistently recognised by leading legal directories for excellence in TMT and data protection, our practice operates at the cutting edge of technology law in Malaysia and across the region, advising multinational corporations, government or statutory bodies and leading technology companies on complex, high-profile mandates.

Our work regularly involves first-of-their-kind regulatory and transactional issues where there is no established playbook. You will work closely with colleagues across CLO and the wider Rajah & Tann Asia Network — spanning ten countries across Southeast Asia and beyond — advising a diverse client base on the full spectrum of TMT and data protection matters. Your work will span contractual, regulatory, corporate and advisory mandates, offering exposure to cross-border and multi-jurisdictional engagements and career development for those willing to invest in their growth.

What You Will Do

You will advise clients on a wide range of TMT and data protection matters, spanning IT systems procurement and cloud computing, AI, data protection and cyber security, e-commerce, electronic and digital signatures, online content regulation, telecommunications licensing, intellectual property and technology disputes. Working collaboratively across the Rajah & Tann Asia Network, you will deliver integrated, client-focused solutions while contributing to thought leadership and the continued growth of the practice.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess between one and five years of post-qualification experience and demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for the technology sector and its intersection with the law. Prior experience in TMT or personal data protection is preferred but not essential; we welcome applications from candidates with a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law who are eager to develop a specialisation in this area.

Above all, we are looking for individuals with intellectual curiosity and resilience — lawyers who are comfortable navigating legal uncertainty and in delivering exceptional work under pressure, and who are motivated to build a career at the top of the profession. You should be proactive, detail and results-oriented, with a strong client-first mindset and a willingness to take ownership of matters and see them through to completion. You must demonstrate initiative, integrity and resourcefulness, and be comfortable engaging with individuals at all levels with a high degree of professionalism. An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is required.
