Lead Gameplay Designer

Electronic Arts

  • Singapore
  • Full-time

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Here, everyone is part of the story. Part of a community that connects across the globe. A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.

Lead Game Designer

At EA, we believe games are powerful because they bring together multiple ways people engage play, watch, create, and connect. Increasingly, the biggest entertainment platforms aren’t just places to consume content, they’re places where communities build.

Creator-made content is a proven part of EA’s history, from community creation tools in Battlefield to The Gallery in The Sims 4. We believe new creative technologies will expand how players engage with our experiences, supported by thoughtful product design, robust systems, and global reach. Our focus is on enabling more players to participate in creative expression by making creation easier, safer, and more rewarding.

We’re looking for a Lead Game Designer to help design and implement the core mechanics and loops for our creator platform. In this role, you will take ownership of large feature sets, working closely with design leadership to turn high-level vision into engaging, high-quality player and creator experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feature Ownership & Execution: Own the design and implementation of large, complex features and game systems from concept through to live operations. You will translate the high-level vision into clear, structured, and actionable design documentation.
  • Systems & Economy Design: Plan out design ecosystems, progression systems, and loops that provide cohesive player experiences. You will use both qualitative feedback and quantitative data to tune and balance these systems to meet player expectations and project KPIs.
  • Prototyping & Iteration: Take on high-risk areas of the game by guiding prototyping efforts. Evaluate proposed functionality, lead iteration loops, and use insights from playtesting and data to drive design improvements.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Lead feature discussions with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Art, Product, UX) to build consensus and alignment. You will clearly communicate complex designs and handle the design feedback cycle across disciplines.
  • Craft Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a standard-bearer for game quality on the team. Coach and mentor junior and intermediate design staff on design practices, engine/tool usage, and aligning with the core product vision.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in game design or systems design, with a track record of shipping successful titles.
  • Deep understanding of game design principles, core loops, player psychology, and progression systems.
  • Proven ability to author large and complex features working in-engine or using associated proprietary tools.
  • Experience using telemetry, A/B testing, and player analytics to make informed design decisions and tune game balance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively document rules, workflows, and pitch designs to internal stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the latest game design tools, AI-assisted workflows, and industry trends to improve efficiency and quality.

Unique Opportunity

  • Be a founding member of the design team for a new business unit within Electronic Arts, playing a pivotal role in shaping both the product and the design practice from the ground up.
