Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Process Engineer to support HP's contract manufacturing operations in Johor. The successful candidate will serve as the primary engineering interface between HP and manufacturing partners, driving process stability, product quality, yield improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellence across manufacturing lines.

This role requires strong analytical capability, hands-on manufacturing experience, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams to resolve complex production challenges. The engineer will work closely with contract manufacturers, product engineering, quality, supply chain, and R&D teams to ensure consistent delivery of world-class product quality and manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Manufacturing Partnership

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between HP and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Drive manufacturing partner accountability on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity metrics.
  • Validate manufacturing data and process performance to ensure accurate reporting and sustained improvements.
  • Lead regular operational reviews with contract manufacturing teams.

Process & Yield Improvement

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify yield losses, equipment downtime, process variation, and quality issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies such as:
  • 8D
  • Fishbone Analysis
  • FMEA
  • DOE
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve process capability and stability.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance OEE, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.

Manufacturing Operations Support

  • Provide daily engineering support for production issues and escalations.
  • Monitor key manufacturing KPIs including:
  • Yield
  • Scrap
  • OEE
  • Downtime
  • Throughput
  • Customer quality metrics
  • Support manufacturing readiness for new product introductions, changes, and transfers.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure processes comply with HP manufacturing standards and quality requirements.
  • Support audits and manufacturing assessments.
  • Drive defect reduction programs and customer complaint investigations.
  • Lead process validation and qualification activities.

Data Analytics & Digital Manufacturing

  • Utilize manufacturing data to identify trends and predict process risks.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical tools using Power BI, Excel, Minitab, SQL, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Support digital manufacturing initiatives including:
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Automated reporting
  • Process monitoring
  • AI-driven manufacturing improvements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Related Engineering Discipline

Experience

  • 3 to 6 years of manufacturing engineering or process engineering experience.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers or high-volume manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting automation, assembly, printing, plastics, or consumer product manufacturing is advantageous.

  • Drive at least 2-3 high-impact cost or productivity improvement projects.
  • Establish strong working relationships with contract manufacturing partners.
  • Successfully lead qualification and implementation of manufacturing process improvements.
  • Develop data-driven dashboards for operational decision-making.
