DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To inspect the company premises daily and record all visible safety hazards, including identification of violators and shall take immediate corrective action, follow through on timely correction of safety hazards, making corrections as necessary
- To arrange and/or conduct monthly safety and security committee meetings/workshops/briefings/toolbox talks and all activities must be documented in compliance with ISO requirements.
- To lead accident investigations for any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence occupational poisoning or occupational disease and assist in following up for all insurance and government reporting purposes.
- Collect and analyze accident statistic and trends for continuous improvement.
- To conduct workplace inspection regularly and monthly hostel inspection to identify potential hazards and recommend necessary preventive measures.
- Take immediate action to ensure legal compliance, submit job hazard analysis to immediate superior for each major phase or element of work as necessary.
- To ensure all safety signages, lights and barriers are provided throughout project site and take immediate corrective action to eliminate the unsafe conditions.
- To create awareness and conduct employee safety inductions for all new personnel or visitors and ensure trainings are carried out for specific tasks, especially high-risk activities and work of non-standard nature.
- To act on behalf of the Company to maintain good liaison with the local government authorities and agencies such as DOSH, NIOSH, DOE, BOMBA, etc.
- Responsible to assist planning and organizing the OSH audit and review via the safety and health implementation plan & program, and act as a focal point for all external audit by clients or local authorities with respect to the hazards identification control in the company work areas.
- To develop emergency plans, aiming the preparation of persons in case of emergency to minimize the impacts of the emergency.
- To assist in creating and maintaining an environment where the employees are encouraged to speak up for security, safety, health and environmental issues, without fear not retaliation.
- To perform workplace/hostel inspection to determine if any machinery, equipment, appliance or process that are liable to cause bodily injury and propose corrective action.
- Continuously promote Safety & Health including Environment activities which include maintaining and improving the company security management, 5S and general safety matter in the company.
- To carry out other duties and tasks as directed by immediate superior in line with competencies and activities associated with any of the above processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- At least a Diploma/Degree in in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or equivalent.
- Good command of English & Malay in both spoken and written.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in similar capacity is preferred.
- DOSH certified Safety Officer, Lead Auditor of SHE Management System, Industrial Hygiene Assessor, Advance NIOSH Trainer, would be an added advantage.
- Result oriented, possess a strong sense of responsibility, urgency and commitment to efficiently meet deadlines.
- Self-starter, fast learner, able to work independently with minimum supervision.
