Staff Nurse (Radiology)

Job Summary

SN is required to ensure patient care and safety while adhering to the Standards of Competency as per local regulations.

She is primarily responsible for nursing procedures and preparation of nursing trolleys in special radiological and ultrasound examinations.

She is also responsible and accountable for stock inventory and regular acquisition of general and pharmaceutical supplies to the department.

She is also responsible to ensure infection control measures are being observed within the department and is responsible to ensure emergency trolley drugs and apparatus are in good order.

She is also responsible for the general cleanliness of nursing trolleys and procedure areas.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares nursing trolley and contrast media for relevant radiological and ultrasound special procedures.
• Assists radiologist or gynaecologists in nursing procedures.
• Prepares patients for special contrast examinations, gowning, giving of intramuscular injections as instructed by Radiologist
• Instructs patients in any specific prior preparations required for any specialized examinations. Establishes allergies and ensures that relevant consent forms are duly completed and signed.
• Ensures that specimens collected are properly labeled. Labels and despatches relevant forms and maintain records.
• Assist radiographers in advising and counseling patients about examinations before and after procedures.
• Liaise with patients, specialists contracted by clinic to perform specialized examinations and related laboratories to ensure smooth flow of procedures. Ensure relevant records are kept. Checks and clean inventory of emergency trolley weekly.
• Ensures all emergency equipment are in good working order and sends all sterile supplies for autoclaving at regular intervals and outdated drugs for exchange.
• Cleans and prepares procedure packs for radiological and ultrasound examinations and send them for autoclaving.
• Maintains adequate supplies of stocks, contrast medium and pharmaceutical supplies and maintain records of stock movements.
• Acquire stock weekly and keeps record on par level and consumption. Follow-up on all purchase requisitions of stocks by dept.
• Keep inventory on xray linen.
• Maintains and updates the quality records according to standard guidelines on infection control measures.
• Provide feedback to HOD about performance of products and services supplied by vendors to assist in vendor evaluation.
• Assists at work counters in the scheduling of patient appointments, attending to patient queries and handling telephone enquiries.
• Assist in data collection for monthly statistics.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board
• Degree / Diploma in Nursing
• At least 1 years’ of related working experience in X-Ray or ultrasound setup
