Senior Engineer, IT Infrastructure

Location: Kuala Lumpur Job Function: InfoTech Employment Type: Permanent

The Sr. Engineer, IT Infrastructure reports directly to the Manager, Infrastructure and responsible:

  • To provide direction and oversight relative to the infrastructures technologies which determine the appropriate solution requirements based on the direction and alignment with the local Business requirements. It must have ability to provide strategy and architecture development and perform product evaluation for the overall infrastructure’s environment. Create detailed design and develop appropriate test strategy of the infrastructure solution.
  • To select the appropriate platform products (e.g., hardware, software) based on the business and technical requirements, platform product knowledge and business requirements.
  • To provide L2/L3 operational support, technical guidance, and leadership to internal business units and IT teams. Adopt a proactive and consultative approach to ensure infrastructure availability, reliability, and performance, even under challenging technical or operational circumstances.
  • To build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. The individual is responsible for the technical support functions and maintenance of the servers, system applications, backup & restore, virtualizations, and storage.
  • To constantly perform evaluation on the existing Infrastructures environment to determine how well it can support the current business requirements. If necessary, design new technical environment and support the business requirements using appropriate methods and processes. Apply in-depth industry knowledge, experience, and business metrics to determine how technology can add value to the business requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Infrastructure Strategy & Service Management

Develop and implement strategies for maintenance, support, development and continuous improvement of IT infrastructure services, ensuring alignment with Company objectives, technology standards and business requirements.

  1. Infrastructure Operations & Availability

Ensure the reliability, availability, performance and security of communications, data center, server, storage, backup, life cycle management, cloud and workplace infrastructure across all Hibiscus sites in Malaysia.

  1. Capacity, Performance & Demand Management

Lead infrastructure capacity and demand planning, monitor system performance, identify potential constraints and implement appropriate improvements to ensure infrastructure can support current and future business requirements

  1. Incident, Problem & Technical Support Management

Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related incidents, service requests and problems; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to maintain service availability.

  1. Disaster Recovery, Backup & Business Continuity

Develop, maintain and execute infrastructure disaster recovery, backup and restoration strategies, including regular testing, to ensure business continuity and timely recovery from service disruptions.

  1. Infrastructure Architecture, Design & Projects

Develop and validate infrastructure architectures and complex technical designs, and lead infrastructure-related projects through the required project stage gates to ensure successful delivery, quality and alignment with corporate standards.

  1. Vendor, Contract & Resource Management

Manage infrastructure vendors, service providers, contracts and resources to ensure effective service delivery, technical support, cost efficiency and compliance with agreed service levels and Company requirements.

  1. Governance, Standards & Continuous Improvement

Establish and maintain infrastructure procedures, technical documentation, configuration records and ITIL processes, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, technology adoption and operational efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT equivalent qualification from recognized universities/academic institution.
  2. It would be advantageous to hold the following certifications:
  • MCSA: Windows Server 2016
  • MCSE: Core Infrastructures
  1. Possessing one or more technical certification such as MCSE, VCP or equivalent Candidate with professional certification such as PMI and/or ITIL certification will be an advantage.
  2. A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in IT Engineering and Operations Support is required, including at least five (5) years of proven experience in three (3) of the areas listed below.
  • Microsoft Server Infrastructure (Including Hardware, Software & Automation)
  • Storage Environment (Netapp, 3PAR)
  • Backup & Restore Environment (Veeam, HPE, Cohesity)
  • Virtualization Environment (VMWare, Nutanix)
  • Data Centre Management
  • High Availability, Disaster Recovery and supporting architectures
  • Cloud (Platform as Services, Infrastructure as Services, Software as Services)
  1. Experience working in a medium to large-scale IT organization, preferably within an Operations or Technical Support environment operating on a 24×7 basis, with hands-on experience in Incident Management and proactive IT Operations management.
  2. Experience providing remote IT infrastructure and technical support across multiple countries or geographically dispersed environments.
